ICS (Impact Contribution Share)
The percentage of a team’s total production attributed to a single player. A higher ICS signals a player carrying a greater offensive and overall load for their team. Applies to NBA and college players.
ISR (Impact Success Rating)
A measure of how much a player’s contributions translate into team success. It weighs a player’s ICS against their team’s win percentage (regular season) or TPS (playoffs), rewarding production that actually wins games. Applies to NBA and college players.
TPS (Team Postseason Score)
A composite score representing a team’s overall postseason performance. Used in place of win percentage when evaluating playoff-era ISR. Applies to NBA players.
Performance Rating (PR)
A 50.0–99.9 score summarizing a player’s statistical output relative to peers in the same season. It’s the foundational measure of how well a player performed on the court. Applies to NBA and college players.
Franchise Rating (FR)
A 0–100 score and corresponding D– to S+ letter grade representing a player’s total seasonal value. Similar to a GPA, it can be read numerically or by grade. It blends on-court production, peer comparison, postseason performance, and contract context into a single, comprehensive player grade. Applies to NBA players.
Potential Rating (POT)
A 0–100 score and corresponding D– to S+ letter grade measuring a player’s projected Franchise Rating for the following season. It identifies players outperforming their pay grade — the higher the score, the more untapped or undervalued the player. Applies to NBA players.
Overpay Index (OPI)
The ratio of a player’s salary per win share to the league average. A value above 1 means overpaid; below 1 means a bargain. Applies to NBA players.
Contract Value Rating (CVR)
A 1–10 rating simplification of the Overpay Index. It translates contract efficiency into an intuitive score, where 10 represents elite value and 1 signals a highly overpaid deal. Applies to NBA players.
Regular Season Score (RS Score)
A score capturing a player’s regular season value across production, efficiency, and impact metrics for a given year. Applies to NBA players.
Postseason Score (PS Score)
A score capturing a player’s playoff value, weighted for the elevated competition and higher stakes of postseason basketball. Applies to NBA players.
Season Score (SS)
The quantitative sum of a player’s RS Score, PS Score, and award recognition for a single season. Applies to NBA players.
College Player Rating (CPR)
A measure of a college player’s inherent value based on their Performance Rating, Impact Contribution Share, and Impact Success Rating. It serves as the primary composite grade for evaluating college players within the HooperLabs system. Applies to college players only.
